Revealed: the best way to sell tools
So you have some tools. Machinist tools or mechanics tools. You need to get rid of them. What to do?
Sell them on Craig’s list? CL is great, if you have a few, but what if you have a lot? If you have an estate? A whole chest full?
You will find most people buy tools the exact same way. One at a time.
Not by the chest full, or the garage full. If you try to sell a lot of things on Craig’s List, people will want to cherry pick the best stuff, leaving you with things that won’t sell.
And who is going to show up answering a CL ad?
Most people are just fine, but we’ve all heard the stories… And let’s not talk about the no-shows or time wasters!
Have you thought of a yard sale? Works fine, if it’s spring or summer. Winter, not so well. And if you live in the boonies, how many people will you realistically attract? How do you price the things? Too high, you never get rid of them. Too low, you are throwing money away. (other CL and eBay sellers often don’t have a clue either) Have you thought of shoplifters? Yard sales can attract them.
And do you have any idea how much work a yard sale is?
Two days to set up, a day to have the sale, then still more time to get rid of the leftovers. (and hopefully your customers will Be wearing masks!) Not to mention all the lifting you’ll do…
Or you can put them onto eBay. You will get the MOST money this way. But: this too is a huge amount of work. Cleaning, photography, lots of computer work, lots of lifting, packaging, mailing, dealing with items lost, with returns...even if you have the skills, it can make you crazy!
But if you want TOP dollar, this is what you MUST do.
Believe me, you will earn it! And then some.
There is a far easier, more convenient and quicker way.
I’ve been buying and selling tools for over 40 years. I know the business, and can help you.
If you have machinist, or quality mechanics tools, in a reasonable quality (not one or two pieces), I’ll come to you.
I also buy specialty items such as metal working tools, blacksmith tools, dental tools, watch repair tools, piano tuning tools—as well as vintage woodworking tools and other things as well.

When I come by, you will get a FREE evaluation at your home. I figure what they’ll sell for at retail, then offer you a price based on that.
No dollar amounts pulled at random out of the air!)
If we agree on the money (which usually happens, by the way), I pay you in cash, load up-- and your problem is solved.
